If your transmission does not upshift out of first and the speedometer reads at zero, the transmission is likely faulty. These issues are a sign that the VSS (vehicle speed sensor) in the rear of the transmission is broken. The transmission will need to be removed to progress forward.

  1. Slow or No Reverse

If your car is slow to reverse, or does not reverse at all, the clutches are likely worn out. There could also be leaking fluid in the reverse apply circuit or the sunshell could be broken. You should consult with a mechanic immediately to get your transmission repaired or replaced.
